AATG Study Abroad Scholarship for College Students

The AATG Study Abroad Scholarship for College Students supports full-time undergraduate students on their study abroad journey. Scholarships of up to $1250 are awarded in the Spring and Fall to support study abroad travel during different times of the academic year or during the summer.  

This program is supported by donations to the AATG. 

The Spring/Summer application deadline is February 1, 2025 for programs commencing in the first half of the calendar year (January-July) of 2025. Recipients will be notified in early March. 

Note: This scholarship is separate from the AATG Endowed Scholarship Fund. Students applying for the AATG College Summer Program are encouraged to apply for both scholarships.

 

The Fall/Winter application deadline is July 1, 2025 for programs commencing in the second half of the calendar year (August-December). Recipients will be notified in late July.  

 

Eligibility requirements:  

Applicants must

  • be full time students enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education in the US at the undergraduate level.  This includes students at community colleges. 

  • be eighteen years of age by the start of their study abroad program.   

  • utilize the funds for study abroad in a German speaking country.  Funds may be used to cover all expenses related to study abroad, including: passport & visa fees, student transportation to the study abroad site, transportation costs while studying abroad, student housing, student meals, and fees associated with the study abroad experience.  

  • be able to provide proof of acceptance into a study abroad program if selected as a recipient and submit receipts for their eligible expenses.1 

  • agree to submit a scholarship report after the conclusion of their program, including images, to be shared with the AATG membership, and published on our website, if selected for the scholarship. 

 

Application:  

In their application, students should describe the nature of their study abroad program, describe how this program will impact their studies, and why they are in need of funding.  

Applicants will be asked to submit an unofficial transcript at the time of application.

  1. If selected for an AATG Study Abroad Scholarship, awardees must be able to provide proof of acceptance into a study abroad program either from their university’s international office or from the program abroad directly.
